Our Process – how we will work with you

Here’s how we will work with you.

1. Initial Discussions

When you contact Bright Sea Media, ask about your aims and objectives so that we can fully understand what you hope to achieve with your website. You can expect lots of questions. We’ll listen to your ideas and add some of our own.

By the end of our fact-finding stage, we should have a thorough understanding of the type of website that you need, the number of pages and the amount of work we’ll need to do to create your site.

2. Website Estimate

After our initial discussions, we will prepare an estimate detailing the work we need to do and the cost. The estimate will also give full details of what is and isn’t included in our design package. We try to make things as clear as possible for you so that there are no nasty surprises. We also state what we expect from you to create your website and give a timescale for the completion of the work. Typically it takes four to six weeks to create an average website.

3. Getting Started

Once the paperwork has been agreed, we will make a start on your site. We will:

Register your preferred domain name (or you can register your own if you prefer)
Set up the right sort of hosting for your website
Set up any email addresses that you need
Agree the general look and feel of your site
Set up a development site and install WordPress

4. Initial Design and Customisation

All WordPress websites are based on a WordPress theme. We will select a theme that has the functionality your website needs and begin by creating the overall structure of your site. We’ll also start to customise the look and feel of your theme to meet your brief.

When ready, we will send you an initial design to review. If we have asked all the right questions up front, we should have a pretty good idea of what you are looking for before we put pen to paper. The last thing we want is to offer a design that you really don’t like. We don’t like wasting valuable time (yours or ours) going down the wrong path.

5. We Add Your Content

Once you have signed off on the look and feel of your site, we will begin add functionality and content to your site – the web development stage. Expect to hear from us regularly as we will need your feedback on how things are going.

6. Launch

When your website is complete, we’ll test it ask you to review it thoroughly. Once you are completely happy with everything, we will launch the site.

7. On-going Support

As far as we are concerned, the launch of your site is just the beginning of our web design relationship with you. Your site comes with full support. This means that if you ever need any advice on what to do next with your site, or want to make some updates, we are always there to help and advise you. Well also fix any glitches that can cause display problems when you site is online.

8. Updates

If your site has a content editor, you should be able to update the content of your site yourself. We will provide full training. But if you prefer that we do the updates for you, all you need to do is send us an email with your changes and will give you an estimate for the work. If you require regular updates to your site, we can advise you on our maintenance contracts.

9. Renewals

We look after all your yearly support and hosting renewals so that you do not have to worry. If you have registered a domain with us, we’ll also take care of that too.
