How we work
If you decide that Bright Sea Media is the right web design agency for your project, here’s how we will work with you.
When you contact Bright Sea Media, ideally we’ll set up a phone call so that we can fully understand what you hope to achieve with your website. In other words, what are your aims and objectives? You can expect lots of questions. We have a web design questionnaire to help us define the scope and your vision of your website. We can email the questionnaire to you in advance of the intial call if you prefer.
The initial call can take 30 minutes or so. By the end of the call, we should have a thorough understanding of the type of website that you need and the amount of work we’ll need to do to create your site.
After our initial discussions or email conversations, we will draw up an estimate detailing the work we need to do and how much it will cost. The estimate will also give full details of what is and isn’t included in the estimate. We try to make things as clear as possible for you so that there are no nasty surprises. We also state what we we expect from you and give a timescale for the completion of the work. Typically it takes four weeks to create an average website.
Once the paperwork has been agreed, we will make a start on your site. We will:
- Register your preferred domain name
- Set up the right sort of hosting for your website
- Set up any email addresses that you need
The design phase is where the look and feel of your website is established. The length of the design phase depends on they type of website you have commissioned. For example, the design phase can take several weeks if you have commissioned a bespoke site where everything has to be created from scratch. If you have opted for a template-based site, the design phase will be shorter as much of the spadework will have been done already.
A common question is ‘How may designs will I be able to choose from?’. The answer is invariably one! If we have asked all the right questions up front, we should have a pretty good idea of what you are looking for before we put pen to paper. The last thing we want is to offer a design that you really don’t like. We don’t like wasting valuable time (yours or ours) going down the wrong path. However, if something is not right, we will do it again. That’s one of our guarantees to you.
Once you have signed off on the look and feel of your site, we will begin to create your site for you – the web development stage. Expect to hear from us regularly as we will need your feedback on how things are going.
We will begin by creating a framework for your site and once you have approved that we will begin to add the content to your site, usually page by page.
When your website is complete, we’ll test it ask you to review it thoroughly. Once you are completely happy with everything, we will launch the site.
As far as we are concerned, the launch of your site is just the beginning of our web design relationship with you. Your site comes with full support. This means that if you ever need any advice on what to do next with your site, or want to make some updates, we are always there to help and advise you.
If your site has a content editor, you should be able to update the content of your site yourself. We will provide full training. But if you prefer that we do the updates for you, all you need to do is send us an email with your changes and will give you an estimate for the work. If you require regular updates to your site, we can advise you on our maintenance contracts.
We look after all your yearly renewals (domain name and hosting renewal) so that you do not have to worry about losing your website name because you have missed an email from your hosting provider or domain registrar.
